Interesting and fun events are happening at Benedictine Preschool, a developmentally appropriate school for 3- and 4-year-olds. Located at Benedictine Monastery, our preschool is like no other. Opportunities to discover and learn abound as children grow socially, physically, cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually. We strive to instill a love of learning, of self and of God, through our engaging daily program. Through use of the Creative Curriculum, children learn at their own pace in a structured but not stressful atmosphere, in small classes with individual attention by a highly dedicated staff. “Interest Centers” are part of the environment. Process rather than product is stressed. A sense of the sacred is fostered through prayer and times of silence. The youngsters pray together, sing together, and learn that they are all brothers and sisters. In addition to the daily routine, the students enjoy their weekly visits to the “Senior Sisters” and their weekly assemblies. Special monthly events include the Annual Twelfth Night Pageant, April’s Arbor Day Tree Planting and May’s Butterfly Fly-Away! The “Formal Promotion Ceremony” is celebrated in June. Parents often describe the preschool as a “peaceful, happy place.”
We offer two classrooms, the St. Joseph Room, a Pre-k 3 class and the St. Mary Room, a Pre –k 4 class. A teacher and an assistant teacher staff each classroom. A monthly newsletter, Parent- Teacher conferences in the fall and spring and daily contact with parents and guardians, through our sign – in and out procedure ensures communication. Below is a sample of our daily schedule.
